Boutique Hotel

Located on the picturesque Praia Feradura, this stylish design property has been making waves in Buzios' otherwise calm hotel market since opening in 2008. In a city that's really only had one good hotel for the last decade, Casas Brancas, this hillside property looks a mix of Polynesian and Spanish design from afar with its tile roof and all-encompassing terraces. But inside, it's a world of Parisian design and artful details that make this hotel standout. Owned by French local Emmanuelle de Clermont-Tonnerre, her continental touch extends to lavish design furnishings of an evolved aesthetic including terracotta floors lined in rubber carpets with white leather sofas and chairs accented by artful driftwood.

The rambling lobby with its trussed-roof leads to the in-house restaurant lined in colorful fresco with menu of French-Brazilian specialties by a Rio-based chef. Outside, an architectural pool deck overlooks the bay with a dramatic lounge area arranged in oversize pillows and teak loungers with terry cloth throws. Spa-lovers find a modestly outfitted wellness center with massage and skin treatments available around the clock with an hour's notice.
The Room

The property is home to 11 rooms and suites divided between three categories including Superior, Luxo and Suites. Each is individually outfitted in a mostly-white color palette with splashes of color that differentiate between rooms named after various art and design themes. Entry-level rooms are compact spaces of around 300-square feet with original sketched artwork, LCD TV and mosaic stone bathrooms with attractive fixtures and layout. Larger luxos category comes with larger living area as well as terraces with head-on bay views. Suites are even larger, at just short of 800-square feet, with private whirlpool as well as double showers and even better views from fully furnished terraces.
